BTCC: A bad weekend for Seat - and a marshal

Heavy rain played havoc with the fifth British Touring Car weekend of the year. Appropriately enough it was round 13 that suffered the most being red-flagged twice.
Racing first came to a halt as the rain got heavier and two cars crashed separately at Tower bend. One of the marshals that attended the first car to [...]

BTCC Brands Hatch 2 & 3: Giovanardi and Turkington take wins

My laptop died during the second Brands Hatch race so here are my delayed thoughts on the other two BTCC rounds.
I spoke to Fabrizio Giovanardi before the second race and asked him if he was worried about keeping the BMWs behind him at the start. He said not, and that his problem at the first [...]

BTCC Thruxton 3: Giovanardi is champion by three points

Fabrizio Giovanardi snatched the British Touring Car Championship from Jason Plato at the final round by just three points.
The Italian finished second with team mate Tom Chilton between himself and Plato as Mat Jackson took his second victory of the year.

BTCC Knockhill 3: Sheddon wins at home

Team Halfords were rewarded for the effort of re-building Matt Neal’s car after Brands Hatch with a one-two finish led by home racer Gordon Sheddon.
But the championship fight between Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi will go down to the wire as Plato came home third with the Vauxhall driver fifth.

BTCC Brands Hatch 3: Turkington triumphs in thriller

It stayed dry for the third race of the day at Brands Hatch but it produced perhaps the most exciting race of them all.
Fabrizio Giovanardi looked in with a chance of taking a hat-trick of victories until he collided dramatically with Mike Jordan.
Meanwhile Jason Plato clawed his way into the points to keep a narrow [...]

BTCC Brands Hatch 1: Giovanardi wins through carnage

Brands Hatch greeted the return of the British Touring Car Championship for its second event of the year with wet weather.
It provoked an enormous crash on the first lap that left two drivers hospitalised, blocked the circuit and caused the race to be restarted.
After a action-packed race it was the championship leaders that came out [...]

BTCC Snetterton 3: Onslow-Cole’s first win

Tom Onslow-Cole was gifted pole position for the third race at Snetterton - and converted it into his first BTCC win.
But all the action went on behind him, with Fabrizio Giovanardi surviving an off-road collision to take third place off championship rival Jason Plato.

BTCC Snetterton 2: Giovanardi triumphs

Fabrizio Giovanardi continued hit back from his Donington disappointment at Snetterton, winning the second of the day’s races.
But championship leader Jason Plato kept the Italian in his sights, finishing third behind Matt Neal who impressively charge from 18th on the grid to finish on the podium.

BTCC Snetterton 1: Turkington stripped of win

Colin Turkington crossed the line first at the end of the first BTCC race at Snetterton - but was disqualified after post-race inspection revealed his car was 5kg underweight.
That meant Team Halford’s Gordon Shedden inherited the win, ahead of Turkington’s team mate Tom Onslow-Cole and Vauxhall’s Tom Chilton.

BTCC Donington 1: Shedden wins in the wet

Rain-lashed Donington Park had the kind of weather we’re more used to seeing at Knockhill. So it was fitting that Dunfermline native Gordon Shedden triumphed in terrible weather in the first race.
Behind him were two drivers with extraordinary tales to tell. Adam Jones finished second in a three year old Seat and Matt Neal stormed [...]
