BTCC: A bad weekend for Seat - and a marshal

Heavy rain played havoc with the fifth British Touring Car weekend of the year. Appropriately enough it was round 13 that suffered the most being red-flagged twice.
Racing first came to a halt as the rain got heavier and two cars crashed separately at Tower bend. One of the marshals that attended the first car to [...]

BTCC: Two wins for Onslow-Cole at Thruxton

Tom Onslow-Cole has given himself the perfect present for the birthday he celebrated on Friday by winning the first two BTCC races of the day at Thruxton.
In both events he ran second before the leader dropped back with a puncture. In race one it was Gordon Sheddon who led the way in his Honda Civic [...]

BTCC: Giovanardi masters tricky conditions for stylish win

Jason Plato won the first BTCC race of today at Donington Park but the second race of the day was an absolute corker.
Rain had begun to fall as the cars assembled on the grid and the original start was aborted as Andrew Jordan stalled his Honda Civic.
Once the race finally got started Gordon Shedden took [...]

BTCC Brands Hatch 1: Giovanardi edges Jackson

I’m at Brands Hatch today for the first round of the British Touring Car Championship.
I was standing opposite the front row of the grid as the race got underway and it was striking how much quicker the rear wheel drive BMWs of Mat Jackson (pole position) and Colin Turkington (third) leapt away from second-placed Fabrizio [...]

BTCC Thruxton 3: Giovanardi is champion by three points

Fabrizio Giovanardi snatched the British Touring Car Championship from Jason Plato at the final round by just three points.
The Italian finished second with team mate Tom Chilton between himself and Plato as Mat Jackson took his second victory of the year.

BTCC Thruxton 2: One point in it as Giovanardi wins again

Fabrizio Giovanardi cut Jason Plato’s championship lead to a single point by winning the second race at Thruxton
Plato was second once again behind the Italian after a close race between the pair and Matt Neal, who finished third.

BTCC Knockhill 3: Sheddon wins at home

Team Halfords were rewarded for the effort of re-building Matt Neal’s car after Brands Hatch with a one-two finish led by home racer Gordon Sheddon.
But the championship fight between Jason Plato and Fabrizio Giovanardi will go down to the wire as Plato came home third with the Vauxhall driver fifth.

BTCC Knockhill 2: Two for Turner

Darren Turner was chased across the finishing line by Colin Turkington for a second time today but Fabrizio Giovanardi kept in the title hunt by taking third.
Giovanardi survived heavy contact with Gordon Sheddon to take third off Jason Plato. Sheddon also got ahead of Plato as Giovanardi slowed the pack and defended his position.
Plato held [...]

BTCC Brands Hatch 3: Turkington triumphs in thriller

It stayed dry for the third race of the day at Brands Hatch but it produced perhaps the most exciting race of them all.
Fabrizio Giovanardi looked in with a chance of taking a hat-trick of victories until he collided dramatically with Mike Jordan.
Meanwhile Jason Plato clawed his way into the points to keep a narrow [...]

BTCC Brands Hatch 2: Second win for Giovanardi

Title rivals Fabrizio Giovanardi started first and second and finished the same way - but Plato had to charge from the back of the pack after an early collision with Tom Chilton.
With several cars still missing from the first race including Matt Neal and Fiona Leggate there were hopes for a clean second start. Most [...]
